Product Summary

For a high degree of crash-tested perimeter security, choose the Truckstopper 5 K12-type bollard. This bollard system offers one of the most impressive stopping powers available in the industry — an ideal fit for government facilities and other buildings with demanding security concerns.

The Truckstopper 5 bollard system is designed to provide commercial, military, government and municipal sites with the highest level of protection from both planned medium-duty truck based attacks or accidental vehicular collisions during normal vehicle operation. It has been engineered and crash tested by experienced technicians to stop a 16,534 lb. (7.5 metric ton) truck traveling at 50 mph. This K12 removable or fixed bollard system includes rebar and an attractive 316L stainless steel shroud/cover.

The Truckstopper 5 K12-type bollard system can be installed to be removable for periodic use, or fixed/static for permanent building protection. It can be installed as a single bollard or a complete array of bollards surrounding your building’s perimeter, depending on your needed level of security. The footing depth is 15-3/4″ plus the depth of the sidewalk (4″) or pavers (3″).

Frequently Asked Questions

TYMETAL has been in the perimeter security solutions market since 1985. With more than three decades of experience designing, manufacturing, and installing the Truckstopper 5 (K12 Type) Removable or Fixed Bollard, we have encountered many questions along the way. Explore a few of the common questions we are asked below. If you don’t find the answers you’re looking for, feel free to contact us by phone at 888-978-4283 or online.

What crash rating is assigned to the TruckStopper 5?

The TYMETAL TruckStopper 5 is a certified crash bollard tested to vehicle impact standards consistent with its model configuration, providing perimeter protection against vehicle threats at the rated speed and mass parameters. Contact TYMETAL for the current certification rating, penetration distance class, and applicable test standard documentation for the TruckStopper 5.

Is the removable version interchangeable with fixed mounting sleeves?

Yes. Both the removable and fixed TruckStopper 5 configurations use the same below-grade sleeve foundation, making the two modes interchangeable without additional civil work. A removable bollard can be permanently fixed at any time by grouting it into the sleeve, or a fixed installation can be converted to removable service using compatible replacement bollard units.

What finish options aid corrosion resistance in harsh environments?

The TruckStopper 5 is available with stainless steel decorative sleeve finishes with a powder coated option, standard to TYMETAL’s bollard product line. For coastal or chemically aggressive environments, a galvanize-then-powder-coat system provides layered corrosion protection, and stainless steel hardware options are available for the highest-corrosion exposure applications.

What inspection and maintenance periods are advised for consistent performance?

TYMETAL recommends periodic inspection of the TruckStopper 5’s locking mechanism, sleeve interface, and exterior coating condition. The foundation area should be checked for concrete cracking or pavement heave that could affect anchor performance. Any vehicle contact, regardless of severity, requires a documented inspection before the bollard is returned to operational service.
