TYMETAL’s dedicated shot blasting workspace is 20 feet wide, 50 feet long, and 18 feet tall with 12-foot by 16-foot doors on both ends of the building. This allows us to accommodate a range of commercial vehicles and other large projects for processing with our state-of-the-art shot blasting equipment, which includes:

  • 6-cubic-foot Storage Hopper and Blast Machine
  • Bucket Elevator Mechanical Reclaim System
  • 18,000 cubic feet per minute (CFM) Dust Collector
  • 50 horsepower Rotary Screw Compressor
  • 250 CFM Air Dryer

Commercial Shot Blasting Materials

Sandblasting and shot blasting are both abrasive blasting techniques used for surface preparation, cleaning, and finishing, but they differ in the materials involved. Sandblasting uses sand as the abrasive media, with the sand propelled by high-pressure air to remove surface contaminants and prepare surfaces. On the other hand, shot blasting uses small metal or steel shots (often simply referred to as “shot”) as the abrasive media. These metal projectiles are propelled at high speed to impact and clean the surface.

TYMETAL primarily uses 60-grit brown aluminum oxide for its shot blasting applications. However, we have the ability to source other blasting media upon customer request.

Commercial Shot Blasting Applications

Using shot blasting as a surface preparation technique is common in various commercial and industrial applications, thanks to their ability to clean, roughen, and finish surfaces. Some of the most popular applications include removing old paint and rust from car bodies or parts for refinishing, preparing surfaces for painting or powder coating, removing corrosion and surface imperfections from vehicles or parts, and cleaning and deburring metal parts for precision manufacturing.

Advantages of Commercial Shot Blasting

Commercial shot blasting offers several advantages in various industrial and commercial applications due to its efficiency and effectiveness in surface preparation and cleaning. Key advantages to commercial shot blasting include preparation for coatings, paints, and other surface treatments; efficient, environmentally friendly cleaning; as well as cost-effective and versatile solutions.
