Crash Protection bollard product offerings range from the Car Stopper, designed to stop a 3,306 lb. car traveling at 30 mph to the Truck Stopper series which can stop a 16,534 lb. truck traveling at up to 50 mph. All contain a flexible steel core structure and unique technology for optimal stopping power. If impacted the bollard core flexes subtly, thereby directing much of the vehicle’s energy back into the vehicle, allowing for smaller shallow mount foundations. This means that installation is easier and less expensive. In many instances, if the bollard system is impacted you only need to replace the bollard cover/shroud, not the entire bollard and footing system, saving you money in the long run.

Carstopper 30 Removable or Fixed Bollard

The Carstopper 30 bollard system was created to protect a storefront or high pedestrian area. It has been engineered and crash tested to stop a 1.5 metric ton vehicle (3,306 lbs.) traveling at 30 mph— the ideal solution for any organization on a busy street corner or a business guarding valuable assets. Its system includes a 316L stainless steel shroud/cover and rebar.

Truckstopper 6-30 (K4 Type) Removable or Fixed Bollard

The Truckstopper 6-30 bollard system offers moderate protection from both accidental vehicular collisions and medium-duty truck-based attacks to municipal, commercial, military, and government sites. Experts have engineered and crash-tested single bollards to stop a 16,534 lb. (7.5 metric ton) truck traveling at 30 mph. Included in the K4 bollard system are rebar and an attractive 316L stainless steel shroud/cover.

Truckstopper 3 (K4 Type) Fixed Bollard

The Truckstopper 3 bollard system offers commercial, municipal, government, and military sites across the country a “moderate plus” level of protection. The result is zero penetration (upon impact) from medium-duty truck-based attacks or unintentional vehicular collisions at busy commercial sites (also tested at a 45-degree vehicle impact angle). It has been manufactured using an innovative spring steel design that can stop a 16,534 lb. (7.5 metric ton) truck traveling at 30 mph, according to crash test data. The bollard system includes durable rebar and an eye-catching 316L stainless steel shroud/cover.

Truckstopper 10-30 (K4 Type) Surface Mount Bollard

The Truckstopper 10-30 surface mount bollard system provides moderate protection from traffic accidents and medium-duty truck-based terroristic threats where embedment is not possible (no embedment necessary). The system requires an 8” minimum of existing concrete to attach to. It has been engineered and tested by Safetyflex engineers to stop a 15,873 lb. (7.2 metric ton) truck traveling toward the building at 30 mph. The Truckstopper 10-30 bollard system includes rebar for added durability and an attractive 316L stainless steel shroud/cover.

Rising Bollard RB001-30 (K4 Type) Shallow Mount Rising Bollard

The Truckstopper RB-001-30 Rising Bollard System is a manually operated shallow mount system that is operated by an 18 Volt portable drill. When in the closed position it resides below grade, being shielded by a heavy gauge steel cover. It is perfect for applications where areas or streets require crash protection for periodic events. When the bollards are lowered or not in use, vehicular or pedestrian traffic can simply pass over them. A single bollard is rated to stop a 16,534 lb. vehicle traveling at 30 mph within 9.2 feet (2.8 meters) upon impact.

Truckstopper 7-40 (K8 Type) Removable or Fixed Bollard

The Truckstopper 7-40 bollard system was crafted to provide a higher level of protection from unintentional vehicular crashes or terroristic medium-duty truck-based attacks. Engineers have designed and crash-tested this M40-P2 type bollard to stop a 16,534 lb. (7.5 metric ton) truck driving at 40 mph. The K8-type fixed or removable bollard system includes an aesthetically appealing 316L stainless steel shroud/cover and durable rebar.

K12 Crash-Rated Bollards

Truckstopper 5 (K12 Type) Removable or Fixed Bollard

The Truckstopper 5 bollard system is designed to provide commercial, military, government, and municipal sites with the highest level of protection from both planned medium-duty truck-based attacks or accidental vehicular collisions during normal vehicle operation. It has been engineered and crash-tested by experienced technicians to stop a 16,534 lb. (7.5 metric ton) truck traveling at 50 mph. This K12 removable or fixed bollard system includes rebar and an attractive 316L stainless steel shroud/cover.

Security Planters – Universal Slimline Planter 40

Choosing a barrier to protect your facility doesn’t always mean you have to install an unwelcoming blockade. Instead of applying a wall of concrete, you can safeguard many locations with a crash-rated security planter. The Universal Slimline Planter 40 is an anti-ram solution designed to stop a 7.5 metric ton vehicle (about 16,500 lbs) moving at 40 mph.

All TYMETAL bollard systems have been crash-tested to British BSI PAS 68 or IWA standards. Alternative bollard crash ratings include:

K-ratings created by the Department of Defense, including K4, K8, and K12. Ratings are based on the impact speed that the bollard can successfully stop a 15,000-pound vehicle traveling at speeds of 30, 40, and 50 miles per hour (mph). For example, a K12 crash bollard could stop a 15,000-pound vehicle traveling at a speed of 50 mph.

ASTM F 2656 crash ratings are currently used in the U.S. to measure speed and penetration. The vehicle size for a medium-duty truck remains 15,000 lbs. Like K ratings, tests are conducted at 30, 40, and 50 mph. The results are expressed as M30, M40, and M50 with a “P” designation provided to describe penetration after impact (P1, P2, P3, and P4). The larger the P designation, the greater the penetration.
