Product Summary

Bring added protection and aesthetic appeal to your perimeter with the Truckstopper 10-30 — an affordable bollard security solution designed for municipal, commercial, military, and government sites. With this K4 crash bollard’s surface-mount design, you can heighten your security efforts in nearly any area of your facility — even spaces that won’t allow for traditional embedded bollards.

The Truckstopper 10-30 surface mount bollard system provides moderate protection from traffic accidents and medium-duty truck-based terroristic threats where embedment is not possible (no embedment necessary). The system requires an 8” minimum of existing concrete to attach to. It has been engineered and tested by Safetyflex engineers to stop a 15,873 lb. (7.2 metric ton) truck traveling toward the building at 30 mph. The Truckstopper 10-30 bollard system includes rebar for added durability and an attractive 316L stainless steel shroud/cover.

Install this surface-mount K4 crash rated bollard system to be removable for periodic perimeter security or fixed/static for permanent structures. You can also order a single bollard or several systems, depending on the scale of your security needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

TYMETAL has been in the perimeter security solutions market since 1985. With more than three decades of experience designing, manufacturing, and installing the Truckstopper 10-30 (K4 Type) Surface Mount Bollard, we have encountered many questions along the way. Explore a few of the common questions we are asked below. If you don’t find the answers you’re looking for, feel free to contact us by phone at 888-978-4283 or online.

What crash resistance rating does the TruckStopper 10-30 surface-mount model provide?

The TYMETAL TruckStopper 10-30 surface-mount bollard is certified to vehicle impact standards at a 30 mph impact speed parameter, providing crash resistance for perimeter protection at sites where below-grade excavation is not feasible. Surface-mount designs are tested to confirm the anchor system achieves equivalent performance to embedded configurations within the certified rating parameters.

How is the surface-mount design anchored compared to embedment options?

The TruckStopper 10-30 surface-mount version is anchored to the existing concrete or pavement surface using a steel base plate with engineered anchor bolt patterns designed to transfer vehicle impact loads into the substrate without requiring excavation. The base plate and anchor system are sized by TYMETAL to achieve the bollard’s crash certification on a concrete surface meeting minimum thickness and strength requirements.

What load or vehicle weight can it restrain in surface-mounted configuration?

The TruckStopper 10-30 surface-mount configuration is tested and certified for the same vehicle weight parameter as the embedded version at 30 mph, confirming the surface anchor system provides equivalent restraint. The substrate must meet TYMETAL’s minimum concrete thickness and compressive strength specifications for the certification to apply.

What materials and coatings are used to resist weather and impact?

The TruckStopper 10-30 is fabricated from structural steel with stainless steel decorative sleeve finish options for outdoor weather resistance and surface protection. The base plate and anchor bolt system are finished to match and are available with stainless steel hardware for high-corrosion environments.

What inspection and maintenance procedures are recommended for surface-mounted systems?

Surface-mount installations should be inspected regularly for anchor bolt tightness, base plate seating, and condition of the surrounding pavement or concrete. Loose anchor bolts must be re-torqued immediately, and any cracking of the substrate around the anchor bolts should be evaluated for structural significance. As with all crash bollards, any vehicle impact requires professional inspection before return to service.
