Vertical Lift Gate Features
The Vertical Lift Gate incorporates a counter balanced gate panel and integrated TYM-VSA variable speed gate operator. The gate panel is supported by two W12x53 structural steel lifting columns and slides up to open and down to close. It’s ideal for larger opening applications where minimal space is available to each side of the opening. By virtue of design, the Vertical Lift Gate is fast and provides a superior level of security.

Frequently Asked Questions
TYMETAL has been in the perimeter security solutions market since 1985. With more than three decades of experience designing, manufacturing, and installing Vertical Lift Gates, we have encountered many questions along the way. Explore a few of the common questions we are asked below. If you don’t find the answers you’re looking for, feel free to contact us by phone at 888-978-4283 or online.
What applications benefit most from TYMETAL vertical lift gates?
TYMETAL vertical lift gates are best suited for high-security facilities, border crossings, military installations, and industrial sites where lateral swing or slide space is unavailable. They are also ideal for locations requiring rapid cycling, crash-rated performance, and integration with security booths or guard-controlled access points where precise vehicle control is critical.
How does vertical lift gate technology optimize space and operational clearance?
Because the gate panel rises straight up rather than swinging or sliding laterally, vertical lift gates require no side clearance beyond the lane width. This makes them ideal for constrained sites such as multi-lane checkpoints, building entrances, or locations flanked by walls, barriers, or adjacent lanes where other gate styles cannot operate effectively.
Are TYMETAL vertical lift gates designed for high-cycle or continuous-duty performance?
TYMETAL vertical lift gates are engineered for high-cycle duty, making them suitable for facilities with continuous vehicle traffic such as commercial ports, military bases, and industrial facilities. Drive systems and structural components are selected and sized for sustained operation with minimal downtime, and the gates are compatible with high-cycle operators that meet the demands of 24/7 security environments.
What safety interlocks and control options are available for vertical lift gates?
TYMETAL vertical lift gates are compatible with electromechanical and hydraulic operators equipped with safety interlocks including obstruction sensors, photo eyes, loop detectors, and emergency stop systems. Control interfaces support card readers, biometric systems, push-button stations, SCADA integration, and remote operation, giving operators full flexibility in designing access control workflows.
How can vertical lift gates be integrated into existing access control systems?
TYMETAL vertical lift gates are designed with standard control interfaces that support integration with third-party access control systems including credential readers, barrier management software, and centralized security platforms. TYMETAL works with integrators and end users to specify operator control panels and wiring configurations that connect seamlessly to existing infrastructure.
