Product Summary
The TYMETAL Fortress Heavy Duty Cantilever Slide Gate is a cantilever sliding gate system designed for use in commercial installations up to 30’ (60’ for a double gate system). Offering rigidity and stability, the Fortress sliding gate system has been rigorously tested and is suitable for use in all weather conditions. Contact us today to discuss this barrier in more detail. We also invite you to request drawings and specifications and take advantage of our extensive in-house resources.
Features & Benefits
- Fabricated from aluminum alloy extrusions for light weight and durability; the standard design closes single clear openings up to 30 feet wide.
- Multi-panel sliding gate designs available for heights above 8 feet.
- Top primary member is a custom 3 inch x 5 inch structural aluminum extrusion. The bottom member is either 2 inch x 5 inch aluminum structural tube or 5 inch structural channel for larger openings.
- Vertical members at the ends of the frame have a cross section of no less than 2 inches x 2 inches.
- Separate semi-enclosed single track of extruded aluminum alloy welded to the top primary member.
- Gate is supported by two posts and an aluminum alloy extruded track containing self-aligning, 4-wheeled, sealed lubricant ball bearing truck assemblies.
- Self-lubricating polymer guide wheels are provided for the bottoms of the support posts.
- Cross-bracing of 1/4 inch diameter galvanized steel cable for vertical adjustment.

Quality Commercial Sliding Gates
TYMETAL promises to provide only the highest quality commercial rolling gates and industrial cantilever slide gates to our clients. You should never have to worry about getting a faulty gate that can’t serve to protect your needs, so our Fortress Heavy Duty Cantilever slide gate is tested as a complete system and perfected to act as reliable perimeter protection for your business.
One distinguishing feature of all TYMETAL gates is that the complete system — the operator and the gate itself — is engineered to work as a system in-house. This ensures all components have been designed to work together properly, leading to a commercial sliding gate that is more efficient, longer-lasting, and easier to maintain.
Frequently Asked Questions
TYMETAL has been in the perimeter security solutions market since 1985. With more than three decades of experience designing, manufacturing, and installing the Fortress Heavy Duty Cantilever Slide Gate, we have encountered many questions along the way. Explore a few of the common questions we are asked below. If you don’t find the answers you’re looking for, feel free to contact us by phone at 888-978-4283 or online.
What distinguishes the Fortress Heavy-Duty Cantilever gate from other TYMETAL cantilever models?
The Fortress Heavy-Duty Cantilever is TYMETAL’s most robust cantilever slide gate, built with heavier structural aluminum members and reinforced roller assemblies designed for extreme-duty applications including correctional facilities, military installations, and industrial sites with oversized or heavily loaded gate panels. It is engineered to withstand higher operational stresses than standard cantilever designs.
How does the Fortress Heavy-Duty Cantilever perform under extreme weather or continuous operation?
The Fortress gate is built for continuous-duty performance in demanding environments, including extreme cold, coastal humidity, and high-wind conditions. Its structural design minimizes flex and fatigue under constant cycling, and the heavy-duty roller assemblies maintain alignment and smooth operation even under conditions that would degrade lighter-duty cantilever systems.
Are crash-rated or anti-ram configurations available for the Fortress Heavy-Duty gate?
TYMETAL offers crash-rated configurations of the Fortress cantilever gate line for high-security applications requiring certified anti-ram performance. These versions are engineered with reinforced structural members and foundation anchor systems to meet ASTM F2656 crash test standards and are suitable for correctional, military, and government perimeter security applications.
What service intervals are recommended for Fortress gate roller assemblies and bearings?
TYMETAL recommends regular lubrication of all roller bearings and inspection of roller contact surfaces for wear at intervals based on cycle frequency — more frequent for high-cycle installations. Bearings should be inspected for roughness or play, and rollers checked for flat spots or surface damage that could cause vibration or misalignment. Annual professional inspection is recommended for all Fortress installations.
