Frequently Asked Questions

TYMETAL has been in the perimeter security solutions market since 1985. With more than three decades of experience designing, manufacturing, and installing the 2150 Style B: Pre-hung Pedestrian Swing Gate, we have encountered many questions along the way. Explore a few of the common questions we are asked below. If you don’t find the answers you’re looking for, feel free to contact us by phone at 888-978-4283 or online.

What materials are used to ensure corrosion resistance in coastal or industrial settings?

TYMETAL’s 2150 Style B gate is available with galvanized steel frames and hardware, with optional powder coat finishes for color specification and additional corrosion resistance. For coastal and industrial environments with chemical or salt air exposure, TYMETAL recommends hot-dip galvanizing on all structural components combined with a powder coat topcoat for maximum protection.

Can Style B be configured with electromechanical or magnetic locks?

Yes. The 2150 Style B pre-hung frame is compatible with electromechanical locks, magnetic locks, and electric strikes, allowing integration with card access, keypad, or remote release systems. The pre-hung unit includes provisions for conduit and wiring access that simplify the installation of electronic locking hardware without field modification of the frame.

What inspection intervals help ensure hardware longevity in high-use zones?

In high-traffic installations, hinge wear, latch alignment, and lock hardware function should be inspected quarterly. Hinge pins and pivot points should be lubricated at each inspection, and electric lock hardware tested for consistent operation. Frame coating should be touched up promptly at any chips or scratches to prevent corrosion at high-contact wear points.
