Frequently Asked Questions
TYMETAL has been in the perimeter security solutions market since 1985. With more than three decades of experience designing, manufacturing, and installing the TYM-SL2000DC Heavy Duty Cantilever Slide Gate System, we have encountered many questions along the way. Explore a few of the common questions we are asked below. If you don’t find the answers you’re looking for, feel free to contact us by phone at 888-978-4283 or online.
What are the defining mechanical features of the TYM 2000 Heavy-Duty Gate System?
The TYM 2000 is a heavy-duty cantilever slide gate system built on TYMETAL’s robust roller carriage and aluminum frame design. It is engineered to support large, heavy gate panels without ground contact, using precision-engineered roller assemblies and adjustable support carriages that maintain alignment and smooth operation across a wide range of gate sizes.
How does this gate’s cantilever design improve operation in areas with uneven ground?
Because the TYM 2000 operates without a bottom track, it is unaffected by uneven pavement, ground settlement, frost heave, or debris accumulation below the gate panel. The cantilever rollers support the gate entirely from above the opening, allowing reliable operation even where ground conditions would prevent a tracked system from functioning properly.
What are the maximum width and weight capacities supported by the system?
The TYM 2000 is designed to accommodate heavy-duty gate panels across a range of widths suited for industrial and high-security applications. Exact capacity specifications depend on configuration and roller carriage selection. Contact TYMETAL for engineering data specific to your required gate width and panel weight.
Can the TYM 2000 integrate with automated gate operators and safety sensors?
Yes. The TYM 2000 is fully compatible with automated gate operators and the safety devices required under UL 325, including photo eyes, loop detectors, and obstruction sensors. The gate frame includes standard provisions for operator mounting and control wiring, supporting straightforward integration with both new and existing automation systems.
What maintenance procedures extend the lifespan of rollers and tracks?
Regular lubrication of all roller bearings, inspection of roller contact surfaces for flat spots or wear, and adjustment of carriage alignment are the primary maintenance tasks for the TYM 2000. The support rail should be kept clear of debris, and all hardware should be inspected for corrosion or loosening at least annually to maintain smooth, reliable gate operation.
