Heavy Duty Swing Gate (Manual Operation)

Product Notes

  • Closes single clear opening widths up to 24 feet and double clear openings up to 48 feet.
  • For larger clear opening widths contact TYMETAL.  Maximum clear opening widths for all security gates will vary depending on several factors, including infill configuration, wind load, and location.  Custom widths are available.

Product Summary

TYMETAL’s Fortress Heavy Duty Swing Gate is ideal for locations where there is not enough room to slide a gate (such as spaces between buildings, alleys, etc.). While a swing gate appears to be a simple product solution, the Heavy Duty Swing Gate is constructed of custom aluminum extrusions and designed to withstand heavy use and the elements. It won’t rust. Diagonal tension cables are incorporated into the design, allowing for sag related adjustment. It won’t sag, unlike steel swing gates that sag and rust. TYMETAL’s Heavy Duty Swing Gate is structurally superior and will look good and perform well over time with minimal care.

The Heavy Duty Swing Gate is available with chain link fabric or ornamental styles to match popular fencing materials, and powder/color coated if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

TYMETAL has been in the perimeter security solutions market since 1985. With more than three decades of experience designing, manufacturing, and installing the Heavy Duty Swing Gate (Manual Operation), we have encountered many questions along the way. Explore a few of the common questions we are asked below. If you don’t find the answers you’re looking for, feel free to contact us by phone at 888-978-4283 or online.

What distinguishes TYMETAL heavy-duty swing gates from standard industrial swing models?

TYMETAL heavy-duty swing gates are fabricated with heavier structural aluminum frames, reinforced hinge assemblies, and hardware rated for higher load cycles than standard commercial swing gate products. They are engineered specifically for high-security and industrial perimeter applications where gate panel size, operational frequency, or security requirements exceed the capacity of lighter-duty designs.

Are these gates compatible with automated operators or hydraulic systems?

Yes. TYMETAL heavy-duty swing gates are designed for compatibility with both electromechanical and hydraulic swing gate operators. The gate frame incorporates standard operator attachment points and is engineered to handle the torque and load requirements of heavy-duty automation systems, including high-cycle hydraulic operators used in continuous-duty security applications.

What ASTM or UL standards apply to heavy-duty swing gate design?

TYMETAL heavy-duty swing gates are designed in accordance with ASTM F2200 for vehicular gate construction and are compatible with UL 325-compliant operator systems. Crash-rated swing gate variants in the TYMETAL product line — the TCSG-4 and TCSG-12 — are additionally tested to ASTM F2656 K4 and K12 standards respectively.

What is the ideal maintenance interval to prevent hinge fatigue or corrosion?

TYMETAL recommends lubricating all hinge points and inspecting for wear or corrosion at least every six months, with higher-frequency service for continuously automated gates. Hinge pin wear and frame fatigue at weld joints should be checked annually, and any signs of cracking at high-stress connection points addressed immediately to prevent progressive structural failure.
